This page outlines some real NU-Mail installations that have been supplied and installed by Aristoline.

NU-Mail Standard

Company D.Phillips (Insurance Brokers) Ltd.

An independent insurance broker based in Salisbury, England.

Requirements An easily maintained Internet e-mail system enabling personell to exchange messages with suppliers and customers.
E-Mail Users 7 using Windows NT 4 workstations.
Server NU-Mail Standard hosted on a Windows NT 4 Server. This has an analog modem for connecting to the Internet.
Notes This is a classic single site system that does the following:
  • Periodically collects messages, addressed to their mail domain, from an ISP and deposits them into the appropriate mail box for later collection by the users.
  • Sorts mail received from the users and deposits local messages into the appropriate mail box or stores non-local messages in an Outgoing Queue.
  • Periodically forwards the contents of the Outgoing Queue onto the Internet via their ISP.

Nu-Mail Professional

Company Electro Mechanical Systems Limited

A precision engineering manufacturer and distributer. EMS has two sites - Head office at Aldermaston, Berkshire, England and a factory in Poole, Dorset, England (approx. 80 miles apart). It also has sales engineers that are based at home.

  • Communication between factory and suppliers/customers.
  • Exchange of reports/documents between head office and factory.
E-Mail Users
  • 10 at head office.
  • 5 at factory.
  • 6 in the field.
Servers
  • NU-Mail Professional hosted on Windows 2000 Server at head office. This has an ISDN terminal adaptor connecting to the Internet.
  • NU-Mail Professional hosted on Windows 2000 Server at factory. This has an analog modem for connecting to the Internet.
Notes This is a classic distributed e-mail system.

NU-Mail at head office does the following:

  • Collects mail addressed to EMS mail domain from their Main ISP using POP3.
  • Mail addressed to factory personell is re-addressed and then forwarded via the Internet.
  • Deposits mail addressed to head office personell in the appropriate mail boxes for later collection using POP3.
  • Mail addressed to field sales engineers is either deposited in a local mail box for later dial in collection or forwarded via the Internet.
  • Forwards all mail not addressed to their mail domain onto the Internet.
  • Some field sales engineers dial into this server to periodically collect and deliver messages.

NU-Mail at the factory does the following:

  • Collects mail from the factory's ISP.
  • Deposits mail addressed to factory personell in the appropriate mail boxes for later collection using POP3.
  • Forwards all mail not addressed to factory personell onto the Internet.

This system has been set up to minimise the use of the head office dial in facilities (i.e. use the Internet where possible to transfer messages between head office, factory and sales engineers).

The commercial packages being used at both sites have facilities for sending reports/documents produced via e-mail.
