and previous releases of NU-Mail.
Current Version
The current version of NU-Mail is 1.3 (Server
= 1.3.32, Configuration = 1.3.29, Remote Console = 1.3.3)
The version uploaded (1.3) on the 10 April
2001 has the following fix:
- Potential timeout problem when
forwarding a large message (using SMTP) across a dial up
connection corrected.
The version uploaded (1.3) on the 13th
February 2001 has the following fix:
- Problem with local sender address
validation using local IP addresses/sub-net addresses
fixed.
The version uploaded (1.3) on the 9th
February 2001 has the following updates and fixes:
- Problem when creating on demand dial
up connections fixed.
- Problem defining pre and post process
robots fixed.
- Optional pre-defined recipient address
on auto messages.
- File attachments in auto messages.
- FIltering of messages, received by an
SMTP server, whose sender and recipient addresses are not
local - this prevents the server acting as an open relay.
- Verification that messages received by
an SMTP server with a local MAIL FROM address originate
from a local network (using IP Sub-Net masks).
The version uploaded (1.3) on the 17
November 2000 has the following fix:
- Problem extracting some recipient/sender
addresses (those with a literal description containing a
comma) from messages collected using POP3 resolved.
The version uploaded (1.3) on the 10
November 2000 has the following changes/fixes:
- Virus detection using Sophos Sweep.
This will check the attachments of any MIME message and
remove any infected attachments before storing or
forwarding. Sophos has to be purchased as seperate
product.
- Re-written schematic user interface
enabling much easier access to the Professional features.
- Wizard to kick start configuration.
- Robot to execute an external program
that can optionally process the message that triggered
the robot.
- Mailing of address lists to remote
copies of NU-Mail and new robot to add these address
lists into the recipient system. This enables multiple
copies on Nu-Mail to keep common address lists
synchronised.
- Problem with extracting addresses when
collecting mail via POP3 fixed (only occurred if their
were multiple addresses, recipient was not the first
address, and the addresses were enclosed in angle
brackets - <>)
The version uploaded on the 6 September
2000 has the following fixes:
- Problem with Outlook Express sending
HTML messages with attachments corrected.
- Problem with invalid message headers
generated by auto responder corrected.
The version uploaded on the 30th August
2000 has the following updates/changes:
- Maximum Retries and Retry Frequency
added to SMTP Client.
- LOGIN and CRAM-MD5 authentication
added to SMTP Client and Server.
- Optional verification of the HELO,EHLO
domain using DNS lookup on SMTP server.
- Optional rejection of messages not
addressed to a local mail domain on the SMTP server.
- Optional rejection of messages that
are not addressed to a local mail box on the SMTP server.
The version (1.2) uploaded on the 16th
August 2000 has the following updates/changes:
- Foul language and allowed/disallowed
attachement controls.
- Maximum message size when collecting
mail using POP3.
- Standard footers on outgoing messages.
- SMTP server(s) and client(s) support
ETRN for downloading queued messages.
- SMTP queued messages can optionally be
delivered directly using DNS (i.e. you do not have to
forward outgoing messages to an SMTP relay server).
The version uploaded on the 18 July 2000
has the following updates/changes:
- Will optionally run as a Service when
installed onto a Windows NT 4 system.
- Outgoing SMTP message queues can be
named and are no longer identified by the SMTP server
they will be transferred to.
- The use of the Envelope-To header
field is now optional when collecting mail using a POP3
client.
The version uploaded on the 30 May 2000 has
the following updates/changes:
- Urgent message facility enabling
messages to be immediately forwarded to the Internet or a
Remote network.
- Full protocol diagnosis log.
- Mail configuration by messages
enabling specified mail boxes to be configured and
manipulated by suitably formatted messages.
- E-Mail address aliasing enabling non
domain addresses to be treated as part of a local mail
domain.
- A scheduler frequency type of DEMA (run
on demand) has been added. This enables services (POP3
Client, SMTP Client, BackUp and Dialer) to be started on
demand either by the operator or by a robot without the
scheduler being involved (i.e. the start of the service
is event driven not time based).
Installing an Update
To update your copy of NU-Mail proceed as
follows:
- Download the latest version of NU-Mail.
- Use Control Panel->Add/Remove
Software to remove the previous version of NU-Mail - this
does not remove the database.
- Install the new version into the same
directory as the one just removed.
- Run the NU-Mail configuration program.
- Start the server.
